The Notion of Math was established to help students achieve a better understanding of mathematical concepts. We help students by offering group courses and also custom one-on-one tutoring lessons. Our pupils are taken behind the scenes in mathematics to discover what lies beneath all the shortcuts which they are expected to know in math (for example, think Grade 11 function transformations).

One definition of math which we love here at the Notion of Math is by Richard Brown. This definition says: Mathematics is the thoughtful making of logical structure. We like to define math is this manner because it is all-encompassing - it takes students from understanding the technicalities all the way through to thinking about shortcuts when working on problems. And being able to use shortcuts in math is a valuable skill.
